SHAVI - RECONSTRUCTING TRADITION
Shavi represents a shift towards a more experimental, open-ended approach to craft.
Working with excess and mass-market materials, the practice disrupts conventional hierarchies of value. These materials are cut, layered, and reassembled, often alongside Sri Lankan batik, creating garments that sit between the familiar and the unexpected.
There is no fixed outcome. Process is intuitive, exploratory.
Tradition here is not preserved intact, but engaged with, questioned, adapted, and reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
The result is a body of work that feels in motion, reflecting a generation redefining what craft can be.
