Sri Lankan Craft: Material Memory & Modern Design
A talk & presentation

Join us for a conversation with the winners of our FSPCraft Futures Sri Lanka Award, exploring the evolving landscape of Sri Lankan craft. From embroidery, batik, lace, and handloom to innovative work with recycled materials, this talk highlights designers working at the intersection of heritage, sustainability, and contemporary design.

Launched by the Friday Sari Project, the award supports and platforms designers shaping new directions in craft. This year’s recipients - Studio Dimitra, Shavi, Rice & Carry, and Alke - represent a dynamic range of practices, from refined hand embroidery and experimental batik to socially driven upcycling and community-led jewellery design.

The selected designers will also be showcased as part of Friday Sari Project’s curated presentation during London Craft Week, offering a platform for international visibility and dialogue around material culture and contemporary craft.
