A new chapter
FSP (Friday Sari Project) is the first dedicated showroom, store and gallery for contemporary fashion, craft, art and culture from India and Sri Lanka.
Founded by Mehala Ford, FSP was born from a personal journey of reconnection. Sri Lankan born Mehala, grew up in the UK and worked as a fashion PR to some of London most cutting-edge young designers. She has spent over a decade exploring contemporary fashion and creative culture from India and Sri Lanka. FSP was born from her journey and in 2023 she also set up arts platform COMMONGROUND& curating exhibitions and events for London museums platforming South Asian creatives.
Our Story
In 2018, Mehala launched FSP with a vision to create a home in London for South Asian designers and makers — a place where their work could be experienced, celebrated, and shared with new audiences.
The FSP concept store became the UK’s first of it’s kind platform for contemporary fashion from India and Sri Lanka. Over 18 months, it became known for introducing emerging designers such as Lovebirds, NorBlack NorWhite, Ka-Sha and Maus Sri Lanka to the UK as well as curating engaging programmes to platform and discover a new wave of South Asian creativity.
A New Chapter
We are moving to a new space in the creative heart of South East London. We are offering a curated space to showcase and support designers. Our space will be your base in London.
A 360 cultural arts space
The store / showroom sits in-house within our own COMMONGROUND& Gallery and The Sri Lankan Social Cafe.
In-house curated events
Our calendar of in-house events draws in customers and industry during focal times of the year such London Craft Week, London Fashion Week, London Textile Week, Frieze Art Week and South Asian Heritage Month.
In-house promotion
We work and collaborate with the fashion industry in the UK and with the growing community of South Asian photographers, stylists, writers and creatives. You will be part of our creative community and will have opportunities to be spotlighted through our Press Days, in-house magazine and newsletters and other creative initiatives.
A creative space for storytelling
We work with brands rooted in craft and who work hand in hand with their local communities to preserve and uplift craft and work in harmony with the land, materials and people. We create a space with workshops and events allowing for the stories and ethos of the brands to be known, as part of our desire to educate and give authentic context to the collections.
